Follow these steps carefully
Park the Terraza, turn off the ignition, and open the hood. The cabin filter lives under the plastic cowl cover at the base of the windshield on the passenger side. You will be working from above, so no interior disassembly is needed.
Find the plastic cowl grille panel on the passenger side below the windshield. Release its retaining clips or screws — on the U-body vans these are plastic push-pins that pry up with a trim tool. Lift the cover off carefully and set it aside; the filter tray sits in the opening underneath.
Grasp the old cabin filter and pull it straight up out of its tray, noting the airflow direction arrow printed on its frame. Expect leaves and debris — the cowl location collects them. Shake loose dirt out of the tray and wipe it clean before proceeding.
Drop the new filter into the tray with its airflow arrow pointing the same way as the old one (downward into the HVAC intake). Press it flat so it seals against the tray edges with no gaps. A filter that sits crooked allows unfiltered air and leaves into the blower.
Set the cowl cover back over the opening and press each clip or pin firmly until it seats. Confirm the cover lies flush with the windshield base — a raised edge lets water pour onto the new filter. Close the hood.
Start the engine and run the blower on high, listening for fluttering leaves trapped near the filter. Cycle through vent modes to confirm strong airflow at the dash outlets. Replace this filter every 12,000–15,000 miles, since the cowl location clogs faster than in-dash designs.
