Follow these steps carefully
Work only on a cold engine. Place a drain pan under the radiator petcock or lower hose and drain the coolant. Remove the radiator cap to speed draining. Capture coolant for recycling. Wear gloves and eye protection.
Remove the serpentine belt (and any splash shields). On some engines you must remove a pulley, timing cover section, thermostat housing, or heater hose bracket for pump access — photograph routing and bracket positions first.
Disconnect hoses from the pump if equipped. Remove all water-pump bolts (note different lengths). Gently tap or pry the pump free — do not gouge the aluminum block/timing cover mating surface. Watch for trapped coolant.
Clean all old gasket material or RTV from the block and pump flange without scratching sealing faces. Compare impeller, weep hole, and bolt pattern on the new pump. Install any new O-rings, gasket, or the sealant type the maker specifies (do not combine thick RTV with a gasket unless instructed).
Position the new pump, start all bolts by hand, then tighten evenly in a crisscross pattern to the specified torque — overtightening cracks housings. Reinstall the pulley, hoses, belt, and any covers removed. Refill with the correct coolant type mixed as specified.
Bleed air from the cooling system per the vehicle procedure (bleeder screws, squeeze hoses, or scan-tool electric-pump run). Bring the engine to operating temperature with the cabin heat on and confirm stable temperature with no leaks at the pump weep hole or gasket. Recheck coolant level after cooldown.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
