Follow these steps carefully
Park your 2007-2009 Chrysler Aspen on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels. While the vehicle is still on the ground, use a lug wrench to break loose (but not remove) the lug nuts on both front wheels. Loosening them now prevents the wheel from spinning once it's lifted.
Jack up the front of the Aspen and support it securely on jack stands placed under the frame rails. Remove the lug nuts completely and pull both front wheels off to access the brake assemblies. Set the wheels aside face-up to avoid scratching the rims.
Locate the two caliper guide bolts on the back of the brake caliper and remove them with the appropriate socket. Carefully slide the caliper off the brake rotor and support it with a bungee cord or wire from the suspension; never let it hang by the brake hose. This prevents damage to the flexible brake line which could cause a dangerous fluid leak.
Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper bracket, noting their orientation for reference. Inspect the brake rotor for deep grooves, cracks, or excessive rust; if the rotor is damaged, it should be replaced or resurfaced. Clean the caliper bracket and apply brake lubricant to the pad contact points where the pads slide.
Use a C-clamp or brake caliper tool to slowly compress the caliper piston back into the caliper bore, making room for the thicker new pads. Install the new brake pads into the caliper bracket, ensuring the wear indicators are positioned correctly. Slide the caliper back over the pads and rotor, then reinstall and tighten the guide bolts to the manufacturer's torque specification.
Reinstall both front wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts, then lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern to the proper torque specification (typically 100 ft-lb for the Aspen). Before driving normally, pump the brake pedal several times to restore pedal feel, then perform 5-6 moderate stops from 30 mph to properly bed-in the new pads.
