Follow these steps carefully
Start the 3.5L V6 and let it run for 2–3 minutes so the oil warms and drains fully. Park the Edge on a flat, level surface, shift into Park, and firmly engage the parking brake. Warm oil flows faster, but avoid overheating the engine before you crawl underneath.

Slide under the front of the Edge and find the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan. Place a wide drain pan directly beneath the plug, offset slightly toward the rear since the oil will stream backward as it drains. Confirm the pan is centered so no oil misses it.

Fit a 15mm socket on a ratchet onto the drain plug and turn counterclockwise to loosen it. Finish removing the plug by hand, keeping upward pressure so you can pull it away quickly once the threads release. Let the old oil drain completely into the pan until it slows to an occasional drip.

Wipe the drain plug and the pan's sealing surface clean with a shop towel. Thread the plug back in by hand to avoid cross-threading, then snug it with the 15mm socket and ratchet. The plug is secure when it is firmly seated; do not overtighten the aluminum oil pan threads.

Locate the spin-on oil filter on the 3.5L V6 and slide the drain pan beneath it. Loosen the filter with an oil filter wrench, then spin it off by hand, keeping it upright so trapped oil does not spill. Pour the old filter's contents into the drain pan and set the filter aside for recycling.

Dip a finger in fresh engine oil and lubricate the rubber o-ring on the new filter so it seals properly. Thread the filter onto the mount by hand until the o-ring contacts the sealing surface, then give it another three-quarter turn. The filter is correctly installed when it is hand-tight and the o-ring is evenly compressed.

Open the hood, remove the oil fill cap on the valve cover, and insert a clean funnel. Pour in the quantity and viscosity of oil specified in your Edge owner's manual for the 3.5L V6. Refill slowly and replace the fill cap once the correct amount is added.

Pull the dipstick, wipe it clean, reinsert it fully, then pull it again to read the level. The oil should sit between the minimum and maximum marks on the dipstick. Start the engine, let it run for a minute, then look under the drain plug and filter for any drips before lowering the vehicle.
