Follow these steps carefully
On level ground, crack the front wheel lug nuts loose while the tire is on the ground. Chock the rear wheels, jack the front at the approved lift point, and support with jack stands rated for the vehicle. Remove the wheel. Wear gloves and eye protection.
Place a jack or stand under the lower control arm/knuckle to support it. Disconnect the sway-bar end link and any ABS/brake-hose brackets attached to the strut. Do not let the brake hose or ABS wire stretch.
Remove the strut-to-knuckle pinch bolt(s) or bolts. If stuck, apply penetrant and carefully tap the knuckle ears — do not hammer the threads. Lower the knuckle slightly to free the strut tube. Note orientation of any camber bolts/eccentrics for reassembly.
Open the hood and remove the upper strut-mount nuts (usually three). Support the strut so it cannot fall. Lower and remove the complete strut assembly from the wheel well. Compare the new unit to the old one before installing.
Guide the new strut (or cartridge/spring assembly if rebuilt) into place. Start the upper mount nuts loosely, then seat the strut into the knuckle. Install knuckle bolts in the original orientation and tighten to the specified torque. Reattach end link and brackets.
Torque the upper mount nuts to spec. Reinstall the wheel and torque lugs in a star pattern with the vehicle on the ground. Bounce-test and road-test for noise. Get a professional alignment — strut work changes camber/caster.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
