Follow these steps carefully
Park the Civic Si on level ground, switch the ignition fully off, and open the front passenger door for working room. Remove everything from the glove box so nothing falls out when you lower it. An empty glove box also lets you see the damper arm and side stoppers clearly. You will know you are ready when the glove box is completely clear and the passenger area is unobstructed.
Look at the right side of the open glove box for the small plastic damper arm that controls how fast the glove box drops. Gently pull the damper arm off its mounting pin on the glove box side, working it straight off rather than twisting it. The arm is thin plastic and snaps if forced, so ease it free with your fingers. Once detached, let the arm hang freely out of the way.
Place one hand on each side wall of the glove box and squeeze them inward toward the center. This flexes the plastic enough for the rubber side stoppers to clear the dashboard opening. Lift the glove box back up toward the dashboard while squeezing its side walls inward so the stoppers clear the frame. Once the glove box is upright, push the damper arm back onto its mounting pin on the right side until it seats. Open and close the glove box once to confirm the damper controls the drop smoothly. The glove box should open and close exactly as it did before you started.
Start the engine and run the HVAC fan through its speeds with the system set to fresh-air mode. Listen for any whistling around the glove box area, which would indicate the filter cover is not fully seated. Confirm that airflow from the vents feels strong and even. Strong, quiet airflow with no whistle means the job is complete.
