Follow these steps carefully
Find the O2 sensor in the exhaust — upstream (before the catalytic converter) or downstream (after). Identify which one the code points to using a scan tool.
Follow the sensor wire to the connector and unplug it. Press the release tab — do not pull on the wire itself.
Use the O2 sensor socket and ratchet to unscrew the old sensor. If seized, apply penetrating oil and let it soak for 10 minutes before retrying.
Apply a thin film of anti-seize to the threads only — never on the sensor tip. Thread in by hand to avoid cross-threading, then torque to spec.
Reconnect the electrical connector, route the wire away from the exhaust, and clear the code with a scan tool. Drive to confirm it does not return.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
