Follow these steps carefully
On the 2016-2024 Honda Pilot, find the under-hood A/C specification sticker and note R-134a or R-1234yf and the capacity. Confirm vents blow warm, compressor clutch behavior, and that the cabin filter is not completely clogged. Informational DIY — EZ Car Fix is not a shop.
Engine off. Remove the LOW-side (L / larger line) service cap only. DIY kits fit the low-side coupler only — if it will not click, you have the wrong refrigerant type or the high-side port.
Start the engine, A/C MAX, recirculate, blower high. Confirm compressor clutch engages. Connect the kit, read low-side pressure against the kit chart for ambient temperature. If pressure is near zero, stop — recover/evacuate/leak-test at a shop.
With clutch engaged, add refrigerant in 5–10 second bursts, shaking the can per kit instructions. Re-check gauge and vent temperature between bursts. Do not empty cans blindly.
Stop when vents are cold and low-side is in the chart range. Cap the port. If cooling fails again within days, you have a leak — dye-test or professional repair, do not keep recharging.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
