Follow these steps carefully
Loosen rear lug nuts on level ground, jack up the rear, and support with jack stands. Chock the front wheels and confirm the vehicle is stable.
Remove the wheel. Unbolt the caliper (and bracket if required). Support the caliper — do not hang it by the brake hose. Note pad orientation and any wear sensors.
Remove the old pads and hardware. Inspect the rotor and parking-brake mechanism. Replace rotors if below minimum thickness, heavily scored, or heat-cracked.
Many rear calipers use a screw-in piston or electronic parking brake (EPB). Put the EPB in service/pad-replacement mode with a scan tool or the vehicle’s service procedure before retracting. Rotate or wind the piston in with the correct tool — do not force a flat C-clamp on a screw-in piston.
Clean bracket surfaces, install new hardware, apply brake grease only on contact points, and install the new pads. Refit the caliper and torque fasteners to specification.
Refit the wheel, lower the vehicle, and torque lugs. Pump the pedal until firm. Exit EPB service mode if used, apply/release the parking brake, and verify firm pedal and no warning lights before a careful test drive.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
