Follow these steps carefully
Park the Cadenza on level ground and switch the ignition fully off so the blower motor cannot run while you work. Open the front passenger door for working room and take everything out of the glove box. You will be lowering the glove box to reach the filter, so an empty box keeps your belongings from spilling across the footwell.
Look at the right side of the open glove box for the small plastic damper arm that slows the glove box as it drops. Pull the damper arm straight off its mounting pin on the glove box side rather than twisting it. The arm is thin plastic and snaps if forced, so ease it free with your fingers and let it hang out of the way.
Place one hand on each side wall of the glove box and squeeze them inward toward the center. This flexes the plastic enough for the side stoppers to clear the dashboard opening, letting the glove box swing down. Lower it gently until it hangs fully open and you can see the filter housing behind it.
Look into the cavity behind the lowered glove box for the rectangular plastic filter cover on the HVAC housing. On the YG Cadenza it sits on the back wall of the glove box opening, held by tabs or small clips. Shine a flashlight in so you can see the cover edges clearly before touching anything.
Release the tabs or clips holding the filter cover and pull the cover straight out of the housing. Set the cover aside somewhere it will not get stepped on. If a tab feels stuck, wiggle the cover side to side instead of prying with a screwdriver, which can crack the plastic.
Pull the old cabin filter straight out of the slot and look at the airflow arrow printed on its frame. Note whether the arrow points up or down, because the new filter must go in the same way. Take a look at how dirty the old filter is, which tells you whether your replacement interval is about right.
Hold the new filter next to the old one and confirm the size, shape, and pleat direction match. A filter for the 2017-2020 Cadenza should drop into the slot without forcing. If the new filter looks larger or smaller, stop and double-check the part number before installing it.
Slide the new filter into the housing with its airflow arrow pointing the same direction as the old one. Push it in until it seats fully and evenly in the slot. A filter installed backwards still fits but filters poorly and can whistle at higher fan speeds.
Fit the filter cover back over the housing and press until its tabs or clips click into place. Tug gently on the cover to confirm it is locked and there are no gaps around its edges. An unsealed cover lets unfiltered air bypass the filter entirely.
Lift the glove box back up, squeezing the side walls inward so the stoppers clear the dashboard opening again. Push the damper arm back onto its mounting pin until it seats. Close the glove box, start the car, and run the blower on high to confirm strong, clean airflow with no rattles.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
