Follow these steps carefully
The video covers the 987-generation Boxster and Cayman, which is exactly the 2005–2012 Boxster hub range. Confirm your car is a 987 (987.1 or 987.2), since the 986 and 981 use different pads. Order front pads specified for the 987 Boxster, plus new wear sensors.
Loosen the front wheel bolts on the ground, then raise the front of the Boxster and support it on jack stands at the factory jacking points. Remove the front wheels. The 987's mid-engine layout gives good access to the front calipers once the wheels are off.
Locate the pad wear sensor wire on the inner pad and unplug its connector. Note how the wire is routed through the caliper so the new sensor follows the same path. If the old sensor is worn through, it must be replaced.
Remove the caliper retaining hardware as shown in the video and lift the caliper off the disc. Support it with wire so the brake hose is never loaded. Slide the worn pads out of the caliper and inspect them for uneven wear.
Clean the caliper's pad contact points with a wire brush and brake cleaner. Check the disc surface for deep scoring; the video focuses on pads, but a badly scored disc should be replaced too. Apply the correct lubricant to the pad ears if specified.
Fit the new pads into the caliper with the wear sensor in the correct position. Compress the pistons evenly with a suitable tool, keeping an eye on the brake fluid reservoir. Refit the caliper onto the disc and reinstall the retaining hardware.
Reconnect the wear sensor and route the wire as it was. Refit the wheels and torque the bolts in a star pattern to the 987 specification. Pump the brake pedal until firm, then bed the pads with moderate stops.
Road test the Boxster and confirm straight, vibration-free braking with no warning lights. The 987's brake feel should be firm with short pedal travel. Recheck the wheel bolt torque after 100 km.
