Follow these steps carefully
Open the front trunk on the 981 Cayman. The cabin filter is located under the cowl panel at the base of the windshield. The 981 shares this layout with the 991. Clear the frunk for working room.
Remove the plastic cowl trim at the windshield base. The 981 uses clips that release with gentle prying. Work from one side to the other. Set the trim aside safely.
Locate the filter housing under the cowl. Note the airflow direction indicators. Open the housing cover and slide out the old filter. Compare it to the new one for size.
