Follow these steps carefully
Work on a cool engine. Disconnect the negative battery cable if working near hot electrical connectors. On the Honda HR-V, the EGR valve is typically on the intake manifold or cylinder head with a coolant or exhaust passage and an electrical connector or vacuum diaphragm. Wear gloves and eye protection.
Unplug the EGR electrical connector and disconnect any vacuum or coolant hoses. Cap coolant hoses to limit spill. Photograph tube routing if a metal EGR pipe is attached.
Remove mounting bolts and separate the valve from the manifold. Carbon often holds it — gently pry without damaging the flange. Remove the old gasket and note orientation of any orifices or screens.
