Follow these steps carefully
Work on a cool engine. Disconnect the negative battery cable. On the Jeep Compass, locate the throttle body on the intake tract after the air box/MAF tube. Photograph hose and connector routing before removal. Wear gloves.
Loosen clamps and remove the intake tube from the throttle body. Unplug the electronic throttle connector and any coolant hoses or vacuum lines attached to the TB housing — plug coolant hoses to limit spill if equipped.
Remove the throttle-body mounting bolts/nuts and carefully separate it from the intake manifold or spacer. Note gasket orientation. Avoid dropping debris into the open intake — cover the opening with a clean cloth.
Clean old gasket material from the manifold flange without scraping soft aluminum aggressively. Match bore size, connector, and coolant ports on the new throttle body. Install a new gasket or O-ring as supplied — do not reuse a crushed gasket.
Position the new throttle body, start fasteners by hand, then tighten evenly to spec. Reconnect coolant/vacuum lines, the electrical connector, and the intake tube until clamps are secure. Reconnect the battery.
Key-on to let the electronic throttle do a self-check if applicable, then start the Jeep Compass. Clear any throttle/APP codes. Perform the idle relearn procedure for this vehicle if required, then road-test for smooth tip-in with no surge or high idle.
