Follow these steps carefully
Verify the Mazda MX-5 Miata requires DOT 3 or DOT 4 (or the manual’s exact spec) and buy fresh sealed fluid only. Park level, set the brake, and protect paint — brake fluid is corrosive. Wear eye protection and gloves.
Clean the master-cylinder cap area before opening so dirt cannot fall in. Note the current level and fluid color. Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands if bleeders are easier to reach from below.
Attach clear hose to the bleeder into a bottle. Typical order is RR → LR → RF → LF unless the manual says otherwise. Helper presses the pedal (or use a pressure/vacuum bleeder) while you open the bleeder, then close before the pedal rises. Keep the reservoir above MIN at all times.
Repeat at each wheel until the fluid runs clear/new-colored with no bubbles. Continuously top the reservoir with fresh fluid. Wipe any spills from paint and suspension parts immediately.
Set the reservoir to the MAX line with the correct fluid and reseal the cap. Lower the vehicle. Pump the brake pedal until firm. If pedal feel stays soft, perform an ABS bleed cycle with a capable scan tool.
