Follow these steps carefully
Remove everything from the glove box so it can swing down freely without spilling its contents. Open the glove box door all the way. The cabin air filter housing sits directly behind the glove box on the Vue.
Squeeze the sides of the glove box inward to clear the rubber stop bumpers, then let the door swing down past its normal open position. If your Vue has a damper arm on the right side, unhook it so the box drops fully. The filter access cover is now visible on the HVAC housing.
Unclip or unscrew the rectangular cover on the front of the HVAC housing, depending on your model year. Pull the cover straight off and set it aside. You will see the edge of the old cabin filter in the slot.
Look at the arrow printed on the old filter frame before you remove it; it shows the direction of airflow, which is critical for the new filter. Slide the old filter out and inspect it for leaves, dust, and debris. Vacuum or wipe out the filter slot so loose debris does not blow into the cabin on the next fan cycle.
Slide the new filter into the slot with its airflow arrow pointing the same direction the old one pointed (downward, toward the floor, on the Vue). The filter should slide in smoothly without forcing; forcing it can crumple the pleats and let unfiltered air bypass. Make sure it sits fully seated in the housing.
Snap or screw the access cover back onto the HVAC housing. Lift the glove box back into position, squeeze the sides past the stops, and reattach the damper arm if equipped. Close the glove box and confirm it latches normally.
Start the Vue and run the fan on high through the dash vents. Confirm airflow feels strong and even and that no new rattles come from behind the glove box. A fresh filter typically restores noticeably stronger airflow and reduces musty odors.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
