What the badge means

When you see Certified Mechanic next to someone's name, it means a person on the EZCarFix team looked at that member's application — their years of hands-on experience and supporting evidence — and found it convincing. It is our way of saying: this person has genuinely worked on cars.

It does not mean we checked their advice on any particular question, and it is not a license or a certification. Car advice online — verified or not — is no substitute for a qualified inspection of your specific vehicle. If something sounds unsafe, get a second opinion from a shop you trust.

How someone earns it

  1. They tell us their years of hands-on experience and the makes and repair areas they know best.
  2. They upload evidence — for example a work order with their name on it, a trade certificate, or a photo of them at work. Evidence is stored privately and only our review team ever sees it.
  3. A person on our team reviews the application and either approves it, rejects it, or asks nothing more of you — there is no automated pass/fail.

Community experience vs. credentialed professionals

Most people answering questions here are experienced car owners and DIYers, not verified mechanics — and plenty of their answers are excellent. The badge marks members who went through our review; it does not mean everyone without one is wrong, and it does not mean everyone with one is right about your specific problem.

Always sanity-check advice against your vehicle's manual and your own judgment. Safety-critical work (brakes, steering, airbags, fuel system) deserves a professional look in person.

Are you a mechanic?

If you make a living (or a serious hobby) fixing cars, apply for the badge. It takes a few minutes, review is done by a real person, and your evidence stays private.
