The extension looks up an OBD2 code or a symptom and opens the matching free guide on https://ezcarfix.com. EZ Car Fix (“we”) publishes that site. Contact privacy@ezcarfix.com.
What the extension handles
Lookups you type or choose. The code or symptom is saved in Chrome’s local storage on that computer, limited to the last 10. This is so you can reopen a recent lookup. It is not sent to us, and it is not synced to a server by the extension.
Text you highlight. If you open the toolbar popup while text is selected, the extension reads that selection so it can fill the search box. If you turn on the select-text button, Chrome asks for site access first. That button reads only the words you highlight. It does not read the rest of the page, your browsing history, or passwords.
Opening a result. When you open a guide, or use “Look up on EZCarFix,” Chrome loads a page on ezcarfix.com. The code or symptom is part of that address, for example https://ezcarfix.com/trouble-codes/p0420. From that moment the visit is covered by the ezcarfix.com privacy policy (https://ezcarfix.com/privacy), including ordinary server logs.
What it does not do
The extension has no account, no analytics, and no advertising. It does not sell lookup text. It does not use it for credit, lending, or ads. It does not collect your name, email, location, photos, or payment details. Nobody at EZ Car Fix reads the lookups stored in your browser.
Limited use
Lookup text and highlighted text are used only to show the meaning of a code or symptom and to open the matching page on ezcarfix.com. They are not transferred except when you open that page, when required by law, or to investigate abuse of the extension. They are not used for personalized advertising.
How long it is kept, and how to delete it
The last 10 lookups stay until you click Clear in the popup, or until you remove the extension. Turning off the select-text button removes its site access. Chrome may keep an injected button on already-open tabs until those tabs are reloaded.
