Follow these steps carefully
Let the engine cool completely. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Remove the engine cover by pulling it up off its grommets to expose the four ignition coils on top of the valve cover.
Press the release tab on each coil connector and unplug it by the plug body, not the wires. The connectors are fragile. Set the harness aside so you have clear access to all four coils.
Using an ignition coil puller, pull each coil straight up with steady pressure. They seal tightly with rubber boots. Place them in order on a clean rag.
Blow compressed air into each plug well to clear grit before removing plugs. Work on one cylinder at a time, keeping the others covered. Debris falling into a cylinder can cause serious damage.
Remove each plug with a 16mm magnetic spark plug socket. Inspect the old plugs — normal wear shows a tan insulator; oil fouling or heavy deposits point to other problems. Confirm the new plugs are pre-gapped to 0.028 inches.
Thread each new plug in by hand to avoid cross-threading the aluminum head. Once finger-tight, torque to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs). Do not exceed this — stripped threads require a helicoil repair.
Seat each coil firmly onto its plug until it clicks, reconnect all four connectors, refit the engine cover, and reconnect the battery. Start the engine — it should idle smoothly with no check-engine light.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
