Drain the old oil
Remove the drain plug with the correct wrench and let the oil drain fully into the pan. Wait until it drips, not a stream.

Replace the oil filter
Spin off the old filter, smear the new gasket with fresh oil, and install hand-tight plus a quarter turn. Do not use a cheater bar.

Reinstall drain plug
Install a new crush washer and torque the drain plug to the manual spec (usually 20-30 lb-ft). Look up your year.

Fill with new oil
Fill to the dipstick or electronic level procedure for your year. Start the engine, shut off, recheck, and top off as needed.

Reset maintenance light
Reset the oil-life monitor via steering-wheel and trip buttons, or use a scan tool if equipped.
