Follow these steps carefully
Work on a cool engine. On the Infiniti Q50, find the PCV valve — usually in a valve-cover grommet, intake manifold port, or integrated into a PCV hose/module. Photograph hose routing before removal. Wear gloves and eye protection.
Release any spring clamps or quick-connect fittings and pull the hose from the valve or PCV port. Inspect the hose for cracks, collapse, or oil sludge — replace the hose if damaged.
Pull the valve from its grommet with a gentle twist, or unbolt a PCV module/plate if that is the design. Note orientation and any O-rings. Avoid letting debris fall into the open port.
Check the grommet for hardening or tears and replace it if soft or cracked. Shake a conventional PCV valve — a stuck rattle or no rattle can indicate failure (follow the test method for this design). Clean sludge from the port with a shop towel; do not push debris into the engine.
Compare the new valve/module to the old one. Lightly oil the grommet if specified, press or bolt the new unit into place until fully seated, and reconnect the hose until the clamp/connector is secure.
Start the Infiniti Q50 and confirm a smooth idle with no whistle or large vacuum leak sound at the PCV connection. Check for oil seepage. After a short drive, recheck the hose connection and note whether prior rough-idle or oil-consumption symptoms improved.
Test your repair before closing everything up. If something doesn't work right, double-check your steps.
