Follow these steps carefully
Park on level ground, set the parking brake, and put on eye protection and gloves. Note radio presets and any settings that may reset when power is disconnected. Locate the battery (under-hood or trunk/under-seat — check the owner’s manual).
Loosen the negative (−) terminal first and move the cable aside so it cannot spring back. Then loosen the positive (+). Remove the hold-down clamp/bracket. Lift the battery straight up — batteries are heavy; lift with your legs or use a battery strap.
Clean corrosion from the tray and cable ends with a terminal brush. Set the correct group-size battery in place with terminals oriented the same way. Reinstall and snug the hold-down so the battery cannot shift.
Connect positive (+) first, then negative (−). Apply terminal protectant. Start the engine and confirm no warning lights that indicate a loose connection. Reset clock/radio as needed.
